Building a Band

Wingspell has been a dream and a hope in the back of my mind for a long time. (Longer than as a woman, it would be wise to admit, so I’ll leave it at that.) In the last few years my focus has been on building my home studio to a point where I could approximate the sound I was looking for, and then use that to attract the right talent to make it a real band.

Then I saw the opportunity at Canada’s Music Incubator and jumped on it. There’s about 18 of us taking this professional development program, learning about how the music industry works here in Canada and how we can navigate it to grow our careers. I’m so thankful for the expertise accessible there from staff, guests, and classmates.

Originally I was introduced to Goth music because an oldschool Goth in my high school wanted to make a band. Click To Tweet

We were all dumb kids back then, and it didn’t work out. Now, I know some great people who know other great people. There’s lots to learn still and I’m sure I’ll make a few mistakes along the way, but this dream is beginning to take shape in reality.
